Today, there’s good news for Aeroplan members who like to order takeout with Uber Eats! Notably, Aeroplan credit card holders can now receive a FREE Uber Pass membership! This free membership is valid for 3, 6 or 12 months depending on your type of Aeroplan credit card.
Overall, it seems that Aeroplan and Uber are expanding their partnership which started in 2020. I’ve previously written about how you can earn Aeroplan points on your Uber Eats orders via the Aeroplan estore.
Here are the details of this exciting announcement between Uber and Aeroplan.
What is Uber Pass?
Uber Pass is Uber’s paid membership program that rewards users with extra benefits and perks. This includes:
- Unlimited $0 delivery fees on Uber Eats orders of at least $15 and grocery orders of at least $40.
- 5% savings on Uber Eats orders of at least $15.
- Rides Perks: Exclusive monthly offers for members on Uber.
For Canadians, Uber Pass costs $9.99/month. But now, Aeroplan credit card holders can receive a one-time free Uber Pass membership which must be activated before September 7, 2022.
Also, keep in mind that each Uber account is limited to activating one free Uber Pass membership, regardless of the number of Aeroplan credit cards you have.

Although, the duration and start date of the free Uber Pass membership will depend on your type of Aeroplan credit card.

The Uber Pass membership is immediately available to TD and CIBC Aeroplan credit card holders. With both issuers, the length of the Uber Pass membership varies on the type of card. Entry-level cards get 3 months, core and small business cards get 6 months and VIP cards get 12 months of Uber Pass.

For Amex Aeroplan credit card holders, they will have to wait until November 1, 2021 to activate their Uber Pass membership. But, in the meantime, Amex is offering these cardholders a special offer for September and October 2021. Spend $10 on qualifying Uber Eats purchases (each month) and receive a $10 statement credit up to a max of $20 in statement credits. Terms and conditions apply.
How to activate your Free Uber Pass membership
Follow these steps to activate your free Uber Pass membership:
- Download or open your Uber or Uber Eats app.
- Add your Aeroplan co-branded credit card to your account.
- The offer will automatically pop up within 48 hours once your card is linked, and you’ll be able to activate your free Uber Pass membership.
For those who already have an Aeroplan credit card linked to their Uber or Uber Eats account, you should receive a notification to activate your free Uber Eats membership within the next 48 hours.
Lastly, you’ll be automatically billed the default Uber Pass pricing of $9.99/month at the end of your 3-, 6- or 12-month free period (unless your cancel of course).
Summary
As of today, Aeroplan credit card holders can now receive a free Uber Pass membership which provides $0 delivery fees and savings on Uber Eats orders (over $15). The duration of the free Uber Pass membership will be valid for 3 months for entry-level cards, 6 months for core cards and 12 months for VIP/Premium cards.
