This past week, there has been lots of news and updates in regards to Air Canada’s Aeroplan program.
Notably, there’s a new summer 2021 promotion where co-branded Aeroplan credit card holders can earn up to 5x points on gasoline purchases. Also, there’s been an update to the Aeroplan flight reward calendar allowing members to view the cost in points for a flight within a 7-day period.
This news comes on top of Aeroplan’s previous announcement of Aeroplan extending Elite Status and pauses points expiration until Jan 2022.
Here are the details about Aeroplan’s new promotion and updates.

Aeroplan Flight Reward Calendar Update
Since the launch of the new Aeroplan program in November 2020, it’s only been possible to search for flight reward availability on day by day basis. This was rather frustrating if you had flexible dates for your flight(s) as you had to redo the search for every day.
Well, now Air Canada has partially implemented a new calendar to view the flight cost in points over the span of 7 days (+/- 3 days). This calendar is available on aircanada.com and will show the lowest price in points for a flight per day.
In this example, the lowest price is 10,300 points to fly economy from Toronto to Vancouver the first week of August 2021.
This first version of the calendar only shows domestic Canadian flights (e.g. Toronto to Vancouver). Air Canada intends to expand this calendar functionality to worldwide destinations in the coming months.
Also, the calendar shows the lowest price in points per day no matter if you want to book Economy or Business class. In the future, Air Canada hopes to implement a feature where you can see the lowest price by cabin class.
Pick your seat with select Aeroplan partner airlines
Aeroplan also announced recently that members will be able to choose their seat when redeeming points on select partner airlines. This will include business and first class cabin rewards on the following airlines:
- Lufthansa
- Brussels Airlines
- Air Dolomiti
Also, Air Canada has plans to add additional partner airlines and cabins in the coming weeks. Plus, they hope to expand this seat selection functionality for cash bookings on aircanada.com.
