Many people like to order takeout via popular Canadian food delivery apps like DoorDash, SkipTheDishes and Uber Eats. These apps allow you to order meals from a variety of local restaurants and have it delivered straight to your door.
But, did you know it’s also possible to earn cashback or Aeroplan points with these food delivery apps?
Indeed, there are Canadian cashback apps that let you earn money on orders with certain food delivery services!
Cashback apps
First, some context. Cashback apps on your smartphone are a great way to earn some extra money with your everyday purchases with partner brands.
So how does it work? Easy.
- Create an account and link your bank’s debit and credit cards.
- Shop at partner retailers (online or in-store).
- Receive cash back on your purchases.
- Cash out your money once you’ve reached the minimum threshold.
Now it might seem worrisome linking your financial debit/credit cards to some third party app. But keep in mind that these apps do not get access to your bank account or login credentials nor can they withdraw money from your account.
The reason for linking your bank cards to the app is to keep track of your transactions with partners and automatically credit you the cash back.
For example, the Canadian cash back app, Ampli, is offering cash back with DoorDash orders.
Cash back with Ampli
Ampli is a cash back app available to Canadians. It launched in summer 2019 and it’s supported by RBC Ventures.
There are many offers from various Canadian partners and stores. Some featured brands include Rexall, Boston Pizza, Hudson’s Bay, Lowe’s, Indigo.ca and DoorDash.

Ampli is offering 5% cash back with DoorDash
Currently, Ampli is offering a great offer with DoorDash. You can earn up to 5% cash back on single purchase of any amount made online directly from DoorDash.
The terms do state that the max earn is $5 per transaction. So, you would need to spend over $100 on your next DoorDash order to get the maximum $5 cash back.
To take advantage of this offer, follow these steps:
- Login into your Ampli app.
- Find the Door Dash offer and click Visit Website.
- This will open the DoorDash app on your smartphone. Alternatively, you can choose to continue in your Internet browser.
- Next, proceed with your meal order and enjoy! It usually takes 5 business days for the cash back to appear in your Ampli account.
This Ampli promotion is valid for a limited time while supplies last or until August 31, 2023!
Get free DoorDash deliveries with an RBC credit card
Like all food delivery apps, DoorDash has delivery fees (between $2 and $5) on each order. In order to waive these delivery fees, you need to subscribe to a DoorDash DashPass. It does cost $9.99/month but you can sign up for a free 1-month free trial of DashPass to try it out first.
With DashPass, there’s free delivery on all eligible orders over $12 and the restaurant needs to have the DashPass symbol beside it’s name.
If you order frequently (over 3x per month) from DoorDash, then it absolutely makes sense to get DashPass to save on those expensive delivery fees!
RBC credit card holders get up to 12 months of DashPass!!
If you have an RBC credit card, you can now get up to 12 months of DashPass for free! This means you can get free DoorDash deliveries for up to 12 months – an incredible value of almost $120.
Now, the exact number of months of free DashPass you can receive depends on your RBC credit card:
- 12 months of DashPass : RBC Avion Visa Infinite, WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard or other RBC cards with an annual fee over $100.
- 3 months of DashPass : RBC ION Visa, RBC Cashback Mastercard and other RBC credit cards with a low or no annual fee.
Note that you do have to pay for your DoorDash order with your RBC credit card in order to be eligible for the $0 delivery fee. Also, you need to activate this benefit before July 5, 2023.

Cash back with Paymi
Paymi is a cash back app that appeared in 2018 and is supported by CIBC. They have partnered with many brands and stores including Staples, J. Crew, Burger King, Leon’s, Sportchek and Indigo.

Keep in mind that the Paymi payout minimum threshold is a reasonable $2 and is paid out by Interac e-Transfer. Although, there is a $1.50 Interac fee if the money transfer is under $25.

- Login into your Paymi app.

There’s no end date for this promotion but the app does state that it expires soon!
Earn Aeroplan points with Uber Eats
So it’s not necessarily cash back, but you can earn Aeroplan points with your Uber Eats orders!
In December 2021, Aeroplan & Uber launched a new partnership that allows members to earn points on their Uber Eats orders and Uber rides in Canada & the US.
Notably, members who’ve linked their Aeroplan & Uber Eats accounts can earn 1 Aeroplan point per dollar spent on Uber Eats orders over $25 (before promotions and discounts, excluding taxes, fees, and tips).
Plus, new Uber Eats users get an extra 1,000 Aeroplan points for their first order!
Note that Uber Eats grocery orders, as well as select regulated items (like alcohol) are excluded from earning Aeroplan points.
Summary
There are many opportunities to earn cash back or earn points on Canadian food delivery apps like DoorDash, SkipTheDishes and Uber Eats.
