Today, Air Canada and Bell have announced a new multi-year partnership that will offer Aeroplan members the benefit of free in-flight messaging on Air Canada flights later this month!
New Air Canada & Bell partnership
Beginning on May 15, 2023, Air Canada & Bell will offer free in-flight messaging to all Aeroplan members on Wi-Fi equipped aircraft across Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge and Air Canada Express flights.
Aeroplan members will be able to send and receive text-based messages using onboard Wi-Fi, with popular messaging apps like Apple’s iMessage, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Viber and Messages by Google.
Sadly, photos, videos & attachments won’t be supported.
Air Canada passengers can start chatting in the air with the following steps:
- Connect to the onboard Wi-Fi after take-off.
- Select the “Free Texting” option.
- Enter your last name and seat number to enjoy!
Passengers requiring full Internet connectivity can purchase Wi-Fi passes in advance or onboard to access full connectivity during their flight. Payment options include credit card or redeeming Aeroplan points.
Other partner airline loyalty members, such as United MileagePlus, Lufthansa Group Miles & More, and Emirates Skywards, will also be eligible for this benefit when their account numbers are associated with an Air Canada booking.
Free SIM cards on select inbound international flights
Also, Air Canada & Bell announced that newcomers and visitors to Canada will have access to free Bell SIM cards on select inbound international flights. The SIM cards can be activated in-flight, ensuring immediate connectivity upon arrival.
