Last month, Marriott Bonvoy announced details about their next Spring 2021 promotion. This new global promotion is known as “Better Two-gether”, and registration is now open.
It will offer members double points and double elite nights on stays of two nights or more between February 16 and April 27, 2021. Only hotel bookings with a minimum one paid night are eligible for this promotion.
Bonvoy members need to register on the Marriott website or from their Marriott account, under the “Promotion” tab. Registration ends on April 13, 2021.
Double Points
Generally, Marriott Bonvoy members earn points on their hotel stays at the following rates:
- 5 Bonvoy points per US dollar spent at Element, Residence Inn, and TownePlace Suites properties
- 10 Bonvoy points per US dollar spent at all other hotel brands
With this promotion, this earning rate is effectively doubled! This means you can earn up to 20 Bonvoy points per $US dollar spent at most Marriott properties.
Note that double points are only applicable to the base points you’ll earn on each stay. Plus, you can only earn double points on your stay and not on incidentals (e.g. dining in the hotel).
Also, there is no limit to the number of bonus points you can earn during the promotional period.
Double Elite Nights
On top of earning double points during this promotion, you’ll also earn double Elite nights! This could certainly help you reach the next Marriott Bonvoy status level.
Marriott previously announced that would reward members by topping up their accounts in February with 50% bonus elite nights based on their 2020 elite status.
Here is a summary of the different Marriott Bonvoy elite status tiers and how many elite nights you can expect to receive.
Indeed, Marriott has started to deposit half the elite nights into eligible member’s accounts.
So, here’s how many nights members may have in 2021. Plus, I’ve indicated how many nights you need to stay under this double nights promotion to keep your status.
- Silver Elite = 5 nights (3 nights to retain Silver)
- Gold Elite = 13 nights (6 nights to retain Gold)
- Platinum Elite= 25 nights (13 nights to retain Platinum)
- Titanium Elite = 38 nights (19 nights to retain Titanium)
Overall, this promotion should make it fairly easy for most Marriott members to maintain their current elite status. Or, they could climb to a higher elite tier. Nonetheless, it seems this promotion is aimed at those who wish to travel safely during this global pandemic.
Terms & conditions
According to the Marriott website, stays must include a paid night (even if points are used for the other nights) to be eligible for this promotion.
Also, points and elite nights will post 5-7 days after your stay occurs, providing all promotion terms were met.

Summary
For those who plan on traveling between February 16 and April 27, 2021, the Marriott double points and double elite nights promotion is certainly worth considering. It could play in their favour to help retain their Bonvoy elite status or even upgrade to a higher status tier!
