Limited time promo: up to 100% bonus when buying Aeroplan points

Air Canada has just released an exciting promotion to buy Aeroplan points with up to 100% bonus! This promotion is a great option for those planning some future flights with Air Canada or other Star Alliance partner airlines.

Until April 2, 2021 at 11:59pm Eastern Time, you’ll earn a bonus points based on the number of Aeroplan points you buy. This tiered promotion is as follows:

  • 60% bonus when you buy 3,000–19,000 points
  • 80% bonus when you buy 20,000–55,000 points
  • 100% bonus when you buy 60,000–350,000 points

To access this promotion, visit the Aeroplan buy points website and sign in with your Aeroplan number & password. You’ll then be able to choose how many points you want to buy.

Normally, Aeroplan sells points for $0.03 per point (CAD). But if you go for the 100% bonus, you’re essentially buying points for $0.015 per point which is a great deal!

Aeroplan has previously sold points with a 50% bonus back in November 2020 and with a 80% bonus back in February 2021. So, this is certainly the highest offer we’ve seen yet from Aeroplan!

For example, it would cost $1,800 CAD + tax to buy 120,000 Aeroplan points. Note that GST/HST will also be added depending on your home province. For Ontario, this brings the total cost to $2,034.

If you want to avoid paying the extra Canadian taxes, you would have to pay with a US credit card with a US residential address.

Lastly, there are some considerations when buying Aeroplan points:

  • Aeroplan points can be purchased for $0.03 CAD each before any bonuses
  • Purchases are processed by points.com and not Air Canada
  • You can buy up to 350,000 miles per transaction (pre-bonus)
  • There’s a  yearly limit of purchasing 500,000 miles (pre-bonus)

Summary

Air Canada is offering their best promotion yet when it comes to buying Aeroplan points. It’s a tiered promotion valid until April 2, 2021. So, if you buy more than 60,000 Aeroplan points, you’ll earn 100% bonus points!!

I wouldn’t recommend buying points without a specific use in mind. But if you have started planning some travels for later in 2021 or 2022, this could be a good opportunity to save on future Air Canada flights.
